SUBMISSIONS

No more submissions!

Eleventh Transmission is on indefinite hiatus!  Thanks for your interest!

Eleventh Transmission is a space for diverse artists and writers from Calgary and the rest of the world to
showcase their talent.  We publish both emerging as well as established artists, and have a special, but
not primary interest in work that is socially engaged.

Check our
Submissions Format page before submitting.  Please send all submissions to
submissions@eleventhtransmission.org.

We try to respond to all submissions within two months of receiving them.  If you have not heard from
us within two months of submitting, it is likely that your submission did not make it to our Inbox.  Please
query or resubmit.

All submissions should be previously unpublished.  Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but we
must be notified if your work is accepted elsewhere.
All work accepted for publication remains the
property of the artist.
However, we reserve the right to republish your work in the "From the Archive"
monthly feature, or in future printed anthologies, or for use in marketing materials such as flyers or
posters, without requiring additional permission or payment.

Payment
All contributors whose work is published will receive $5.  At the discretion of the editors, some work will be
featured every issue, however all work will receive equal payment.  Five dollars is not much, we know, but it
is all that we can afford to pay, and also ensures that we get submissions from people who create for love
and not for money.  Love is why we publish this magazine.

Please include your complete mailing address with your submission.  In the case that your work is
accepted for publication, a cheque will be sent out within 30 days of publication of  the issue in which your
work appears.  Please
contact us if you have any questions about this.

Submitting
Submissions must be accompanied by a short author biography.  Submissions without an accompanying
biography will not be considered.  The biography should mention your geographic location and give some
details of your experience creating and publishing your work.  The biography is for editorial use only and
will not be published, however if you maintain a website or a blog that you want published with your work,
please include it in the biography.  Keep in mind that publication is based on quality of work and not
publication history.

We accept submissions of
poetry, fiction, articles, visual art, photos, video, audio, music, and reviews.
Further details are below.
We will consider publishing the work by contributors we have already published.
However, please wait until four months after the publication of your work to submit new work.

Mixed media projects such as fiction with poems, poems with photos, images with music, etc., are
welcome.  Innovative, experimental, and adventurous work of any kind is definitely considered.

We have a special, but not primary, interest in work that is
socially engaged.  That means: work that is anti-
war, feminist, critical of corporate media, concerned with race and gender stereotypes and discrimination,
poverty, etc.

There is no specific deadline for submission of creative work.  However, articles, reviews, and other
possibly time-sensitive submissions should be submitted by the 20th of each month in order to be
considered for the next month's issue.

Eleventh Transmission is published 10 months per year, with new issues launched on the first Monday of
every month.  The publication schedule for 2008 is as follows:
  • January 7
  • February 4
