FEATURED SITE
Z Communications
by Kirk Ramdath
Z Mag just relaunched their new site and gave it a
new name, Z Communications. Like Z Mag, it is
the umbrella under which Z Net, Z Magazine, Z
Media Institute, and Z Video all operate.
The star of the Z network is undoubtedly Z Net.
Updated daily, it is the one of the best resources
on the Internet for news and commentary that
provides a different perspective from the one often
found in corporate media.
Z is unequivocally anti-war, feminist, pro-gay rights, anti-poverty, and just about every other position that
would be described as being on the "left." So it is no surprise to find writers such as Noam Chomsky,
Barbara Ehrenreich, and Naomi Klein are regularly featured.
Rather than being just a site devoted to "preaching to the choir," what Z represents is an alternative to
the mainstream media. Go to CBC, CTV, and CNN, but visit Z Net as well, and then make up your mind.
The old site is still up and running and updated daily at the old address: zmag.org. The new Z
Communications site has an improved look and new functions that will improve usability and access to
the plethora of information contained in the site. Some of the bugs are still being worked out, but this is
definitely one to check regularly. Every day if you can.
